Mindsphere

Siemens, Messen

Overview makes the difference

With our AR installation, we provided visitors to SPS IPC and Hannover Messe with an overview and deeper insights into the capabilities and possibilities of Siemens' MindSphere technology.

For some visitors, they were perhaps only recognizable at second glance, but in the Siemens hall at the SPS IPC and HMS trade fairs, countless blue cubes floated above the selected technical exhibits in typical Siemens blue.
One floor higher, on the so-called Siemens MindSphere balcony, the deeper meaning of these landmarks was revealed to the interested trade fair visitors.

The luminous cubes marked those products that are digitally networked via MindSphere, Siemens' open IoT operating system. With the MindSphere application developed by us, both these products and the basic principle of MindSphere technology could be explored.

Six MindSphere stations arranged along the balustrade of the balcony invited visitors on an interactive tour through the world of IoT. The individual stations consisted of a monitor that could be swiveled over two axes, which - similar to binoculars - displayed the exhibition stands below in real time.
If you pointed the digital crosshairs at one of the MindSphere cubes in the hall, the MindSphere reacted and the section zoomed deeper into the image.

A corresponding audio guide informed users about the technical basics of the system and while the MindSphere was talking to them, product-specific information could be called up so that they could delve deeper.
Afterwards, they could set off again in search of further networked components. A not insignificant playful component of the interactive installation, which was rewarded with a high level of engagement from the trade fair visitors.

The visual basis for this extensive AR installation was provided by a 360° camera which was installed high above the trade fair stands and from there sent a 4K live stream to the individual stations via the local network.
Using precise rotation sensors, the selected viewing angle could be captured exactly and in real time on the respective display and thus the appropriate area of the stream could be displayed.

The convincing result expanded Siemens' trade fair appearance with an intuitively experienceable second "MindSphere" level with high information and entertainment value for the interested audience.
