Stadt Kaiserslautern
What scientists are developing in theory is to be tested in practice on the former Pfaff site in Kaiserslautern: The district of the future.
In order to make the results of this ambitious model project accessible to experts and also understandable for a broader public, we have realized an extensive augmented reality exhibition.
This innovative AR exhibition project offers visitors a unique and immersive experience, blending physical exhibits with cutting-edge virtual technology. The exhibition, centered around the forward-thinking EnStadt:Pfaff research project in Kaiserslautern, showcases the district of the future through four key themes: energy, building, mobility, and human and technology.

Visitors are provided with a tablet app that serves as a window into an enhanced reality. As they explore the exhibition space, they can use the app to interact with four physical exhibits, each representing one of the core themes. The augmented reality overlay adds depth and dimension to the physical objects, allowing visitors to delve deeper into the concepts and innovations behind the Pfaff disctrict's visionary urban planning

The energy exhibit demonstrates sustainable power solutions and smart grid technologies planned for the district. The building display showcases innovative architectural designs and energy-efficient construction methods, potentially highlighting concepts like the energy-positive buildings seen in other projects. The mobility section presents future transportation systems and infrastructure designed to reduce carbon emissions and improve urban flow. Finally, the human and technology exhibit explores the intersection of digital innovation and daily life in the Pfaff district.

This AR-enhanced exhibition not only educates visitors about the EnStadt:Pfaff project but also provides an engaging, interactive experience that brings the future of urban development to life. By seamlessly blending physical and virtual elements, the project offers a tangible glimpse into the potential of augmented reality in education, urban planning, and public engagement.
The exhibition serves as a powerful tool for visualizing and understanding the complex interplay of factors that shape the cities of tomorrow, making it an invaluable asset for stakeholders, planners, and the general public alike.
